Fire Department Facts


Newton County Fire Service Department protects an area of 278 square miles, with a population of 96,000. The department meets the challenge with a force of 80 full time career firefighters, 50 volunteer firefighters, and 12 part-time firefighters. These firefighters are highly trained men and women that are compassionate caring individuals with a strong desire to serve this community.

Currently Mike Satterfield leads this department continuing a history of excellent customer service with an organization designed to provide excellence in all areas of service.

While providing a multitude of services including fire suppression, emergency medical care, fire cause and investigation, public safety education, or inspection and plan review for code compliance everyone at Newton County Fire Service works diligently to serve the citizens and visitors of Newton County, Georgia.   

Administration:
The administrative division of Newton County Fire Service includes areas, of Budgeting, Fleet Maintenance, Fire Marshal’s Office, Supply, Personnel, Fire Safety Education, and Secretarial/ Support Staff.

Fire Marshal’s Office:
The fire marshal’s office is responsible for many aspects of prevention, along with enforcement of fire codes in buildings, burning regulations, fire investigation and plain review among many other duties.

Supply Office:
The supply office was started in October of 2007 and is responsible for the fiscal well-being of the department. The supply office handles every expenditure made for the day to day operation of the department. The supply office also handles all inventory and distribution of supply’s along with all small motor repair for the department.
